Concluding remarks
We conclude by discussing the limitations and implications of our case study on CryptoLocker, speculating on how ransomware may change in the future, and illuminating lessons learned for how we can fight ransomware on an interdisciplinary front. We hope to have shed light on the relationship between ransomware and cryptocurrency, and to have underscored the fact that these two technologies intertwined must be subject to the scrutiny of researchers, cybersecurity experts, businesses, and the general public.
